Ghost jobs — listings that aren't attached to a real, active hiring process — waste everyone's time. They exist because companies leave old postings up, collect resumes "for future opportunities," or post listings they never intend to fill.
isthisjobreal.com uses a simplified version of the Hiring Activity Score (HAS), an algorithm developed by RJRP (Real Jobs, Real People), to analyze job listings for red flags. We look at specificity, salary transparency, evergreen language, listing freshness, and more.
What we can and can't tell you
This tool runs in "limited mode" — we analyze the listing text itself, not the company's broader hiring patterns. The full HAS algorithm on RJRP uses additional signals like company hiring velocity and historical repost data. So our scores here are directional, not definitive.
A high score means the listing shows good signs. A low score means there are red flags worth knowing about. Either way, you're more informed than before.
Privacy
We never publicly display company names. Submissions require an email but not an account. We don't sell your data.
